Essential Oils for Skin CareThere are few things more irritating than a poorly timed break out. It never fails, right before a major event, your skin develops splotches, spots, or dry patches. Of course, if you would rather not suffer from these bothersome skin blights, you can turn to a variety of Essential Oils for all manner of skin afflictions. You can cleanse, tone, and nourish your skin to bring out the best of your complexion.

Essential Oils to Cleanse Your Skin

While it may seem counterintuitive to put oils on your skin to cleanse it, it is actually highly effective. With the proper combination, Essential Oils can help balance the oil your skin naturally produces. It does so by removing the impurities and dirt trapped in your pores. These impurities are often stuck in the oils already existing on your face. Since oil dissolves oil, the pure Essential oils remove the dirty oil in your pores, thus restoring balance.

An excellent option to cleanse the skin is Melaleuca Oil, also known as Tea Tree Oil. This Essential Oil is known for its antibacterial properties. This means that Melaleuca is able to stop acne-inducing bacteria before it can get a foot hold in your pores. However, bear in mind that Melaleuca Oil can dry out your skin, so be sure to provide your skin the moisture it needs with an Essential Oil such as Rosewood.

While Rosewood Oil is known to help combat dry skin, it is also an excellent option for aging skin. As we age, our skin care needs change so this Essential Oil is vital for preserving the youthful look of your skin. Not only that, but this Essential Oil contains anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties to help improve the texture of your skin.

Another Essential Oil to improve the look and feel of your skin is Peppermint oil, particularly if you have oily or greasy skin. Peppermint Oil is also an effective cooling agent due to its menthol content, so if you are suffering from sunburn you can use this oil to relieve the sting and promote faster healing for your skin.

Essential Oils for Skin Tone

As we age, the tone of skin can change—often in way we do not like. Much of this tone damage occurs due to age, stress, and sun exposure. Thankfully, there are a variety of oils that can combat this damage and even improve the appearance of your skin.

Lavender Oil is well known as a stress reliever. What is also well known is that stress wreaks havoc on your complexion. By naturally reducing your stress levels, Lavender Oil is able to help improve your skin tone. However, it also helps to repair the wear and tear on your skin caused by aging, sunburns, and more by regenerating skin cells.

German Chamomile also helps improve a wide variety of skin problems ranging from dry, irritated skin to eczema and psoriasis. If you suffer from red spots, dry spots, or skin irritations, German Chamomile Oil can work wonders to improve your skin tone and texture. Individuals should be aware that not all chamomile oils are the same. There are two distinct varieties: Roman and German. While both provide skin benefits, the German variety tends to provide better results for this particular purpose.

Ylang Ylang is another excellent Essential Oil for improving skin tone. This versatile oil is able to improve acne, reduce wrinkles, smooth your skin, and more. This Essential Oil is also particularly beneficial for individuals who suffer from oily skin.

Essential Oils to Nourish Your Skin

Even the best skin care regimen will fall flat if you do not provide proper nourishment. Once again, Lavender Oil can provide the moisture your skin needs to help calm your complexion after a sudden breakout. Lavender Oil is also effective at soothing dry or chapped lips as well.

Geranium Oil is another effective means of nourishing dry or chapped skin (not just your lips!) due to its moisturizing qualities. It can also improve the appearance of greasy skin by stabilizing your skin’s natural oils. Jasmine Oil is also an effective means of hydrating skin; however, it should not be used on cracked or broken skin as it may cause irritation.

Frankincense Oil is somewhat of a powerhouse when it comes to skin care. It can improve conditions related to burns, rashes, wrinkles, and more. It is also effective at improving all of your skin, not just that of your face. Try adding some to an unscented lotion to make your own skin-enhancing moisturizer.

By using Essential Oils to care for all aspects of your skin, from cleansing to toning to moisturizing, you will be able to ensure your skin stays young and fresh looking. Additionally, you will be able to repair the damage done by sunburns, acne scarring, and aging in general.
