Hormone Balance and Support for Women and MenWhile many people associate the word ‘hormone’ with teenagers, these molecules are present in everybody. They send signals to various organs and help to regulate how our bodies function as well as our behavior. Our bodies require a healthy balance of hormones to maintain good health.

For example, too much of the stress hormone cortisol can wreak havoc on your body and mental health. A little cortisol can actually help you deal with tense situations, but if you are frequently under stress, you end up producing too much of this hormone for too long. Side effects of prolonged stress include weakened immune system, interrupted sleep, headaches, weight gain, and more.

As you can see, unbalanced hormones are less than desirable. Using essential oils can help you readjust various hormone levels to help you lead a healthy and happy life. While both men and women can benefit from reducing their stress levels, there are a variety of Essential Oils that target hormonal imbalances specific to each gender.

Essential Oils for Women

There are numerous conditions that afflict women specifically that cause undue stress and irritation. Some of these include hot flashes, other issues related to menopause, menstrual cramps, heavy bleeding, and so on. Thankfully, there are a multitude of Essential Oils to help deal with these unwanted hormonal problems.

Clary Sage

This Essential Oil is particularly effective for menstrual irregularity, hot flashes, and balancing estrogen. Women naturally produce estrogen, but toxins such as Xenoestrogen interfere with its proper function. Xenoestrogen is present in a variety of products we use every day such as skin care products, certain food preservatives, plastics, insecticides, and more.

Xenoestrogen mimics estrogen within the body, but with deleterious results that can negatively affect reproduction and cause puberty to start at an unusually young age. Using Clary Sage Essential Oil can help maintain the proper balance of estrogen via its plant-based estrogen content (phytoestrogen).

Geranium

Geranium Oil can also provide relief for menopause symptoms such as depression, pain, and hot flashes; improve progesterone production to help balance estrogen levels negatively impacted by Xenoestrogen; and balance the endocrine system as well. The endocrine system is responsible for producing hormones and sending them directly into your circulatory system, so a proper balance is vital to your health and wellness.

Fennel

While the above two oils apply more to menopause and balancing hormones, Fennel oil focuses more on issues to do with menstruation. This Essential Oil can help with menstrual irregularity, swelling, mood swings, and other PMS symptoms. It also aids with fertility as well.

Essential Oils for Men

Just as men and women have vastly different hormonal needs, they require a very different set of Essential Oils to address them. When it comes to hormonal imbalances in men, most often they wish to boost their testosterone. While both men and women can use these essential oils, they provide different effects and benefits dependent upon their sex.

Cypress and Sandalwood

These Essential Oils are both excellent examples of testosterone boosters. Sandalwood in particular can help balance the thyroid and endocrine system when mixed with Frankincense. Cypress can also help boost fertility. While cypress is meant more to balance low levels of testosterone, sandalwood is geared more toward erectile dysfunction.

Having a proper balance of estrogen and testosterone is necessary for good health in women and men respectively. Thankfully, Essential Oils can help everyone achieve this equilibrium in a natural way.
