With seasonal threats in full swing, you may find yourself looking for natural remedies and defenses to keep yourself healthy. An excellent option to consider is using essential oils. Some oils provide a boost to your respiratory health or overall immune system while others are designed to provide relief of seasonal threats–some can even do both. 9049207_s

Respiratory Blend

If you would like to increase your respiratory health, a good place to start is a respiratory blend.

Individuals can use a respiratory blend aromatically in a diffuser or directly on the skin (often applied to the chest, back, or soles of the feet depending on your preference). While this essential oil can be used directly on the skin, individuals with sensitive skin should consider diluting it with a carrying oil or applying it to a tougher part of skin (i.e. the soles of the feet) to avoid irritation.

If you do not have a respiratory blend in your arsenal of essential oils, you can make your own version in a pinch. Simply mix 1 drop of Eucalyptus Radiata, Lemon, Peppermint, and Melaleuca to create your own DIY blend.

Melaleuca

Melaleuca oil is another excellent option for combating seasonal threats; it is often referred to as tea tree oil. It is easiest to add 2-5 drops of melaleuca mixed with honey to a nice, warm cup of tea. It is also effective when diffused.

So what makes melaleuca so great? Melaleuca provides benefits that make it great for ousting seasonal threats from your system. It is also has natural expectorant properties. It is also an effective immune system booster, meaning it may help you maintain your health and wellness.

Peppermint

Peppermint isn’t just a candy treat to freshen your breath, it is also an effective essential oil to reduce seasonal threats. Not only does is it act a stress reliever, it can also help cool you off when overheated and provide relief from occasional tension. It provides a number of benefits to ease your breathing. Peppermint oil can be used in a variety of ways (neat, diluted, or in a diffuser) and will depend on personal preference and skin sensitivity.

Rosemary

Rosemary is another great option to add to your essential oil cache. It is great for promoting clearer breathing. This is great to keep muscles feeling their best. You can diffuse, apply directly, or inhale rosemary oil depending on your preferred method of application.

Protective Blend

A protective blend is an excellent essential oil blend to have on hand during this season. This particular product is a blend of Wild Orange, Clove Bud, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary. It is a highly effective means to boost your immune system. It is effective at promoting health and wellness.

Because of this, there are a variety of ways to use the protective blend. Some individuals choose to make hand soaps or hand cleansers. It can also be used aromatically in a diffuser to disperse it through the air. Some individuals choose to apply it topically, generally on the soles of the feet. A protective blend can be used without dilution in this manner; however, some individuals choose to use a carrier if they have more sensitive skin.

Regardless of which oil or blend you choose, all of the above provide some degree of relief or resistance to seasonal threats. Protecting your family’s health as well as your own during this season is made that much easier with essential oils.
